Kèr Yèbli̊sh (/jɛb/ /li̘ʃ/ [restaurant; diner] [bracket]) is a subtropical Town located in Kidaeu Hold, Lashfi̊f Provence, within the Tauranian United Provinces.

The name Kèr Yèbli̊sh is derived from the Tauric language, as Kèr Yèbli̊sh was founded by Gêli Hughankland, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Kèr Yèbli̊sh has a yearly average temperature of 26°C (78°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 29°C (84°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 23°C (73°F). Kèr Yèbli̊sh receives an average of 214 cm/y (84 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the fall. Kèr Yèbli̊sh covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 3270 m (10728 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Kèr Yèbli̊sh was founded durring the early 12th century in winter of the year 1101, by Gêli Hughankland. The establishment of Kèr Yèbli̊sh suffered from many setbacks, delays, and obsticles, most notably a group of Kèr Yèbli̊sh which required millitary assistance exterminate before the community could finish being built.

Kèr Yèbli̊sh was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the early 12th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Kèr Yèbli̊sh is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Kèr Yèbli̊sh is buildings are arranged within a network of premissive cobblestone streets which form a rectangular grid, where each block verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller block has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town rests behind a thick wall made from clay bricks. The wall has all of the proper fortifications and is well made. Unfortuantly the nature of clay brick leaves it quite vulnerable to siege equipment, though the thickness of the wall lends it simmilar resistnace to a thinner hardrock wall. Kèr Yèbli̊sh's millitarily questionable fortifications are in an unremarkable state. To some, this is the ideal sate for defences to be in. In need of absoutly nothing, and ready to serve the town as needed.

Right off the bat Kèr Yèbli̊sh hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Somehow this town has come into quite a lot of wealth, and recently from the looks of things. The influx of wealth has brought with it an influx of relaxation. Everywhere you look people are enjoying their prosperity in a slow, casual, and deliberate manner. There’s no rush for anything anywhere you look.

Kèr Yèbli̊sh has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Kèr Yèbli̊sh has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Kèr Yèbli̊sh has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Kèr Yèbli̊sh's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Kèr Yèbli̊sh possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Kèr Yèbli̊sh's grid is powered by mana accumulators.

Kèr Yèbli̊sh possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. In spite of the Galvanic Grid, these lights continue to use their old fule sources to provide nighttime illumination to all city streets.

Kèr Yèbli̊sh has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Kèr Yèbli̊sh has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Kèr Yèbli̊sh has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Kèr Yèbli̊sh is home to a distinct subculture, who are either the majority here or have the dominant positions in the community. Architecture, local laws, and social customs are all tuned to suit them, and they may not be particularly forgiving or friendly to the major culture of the region. Communities that are not outright independent usually make an arm's-length submission to a local lord.

Kèr Yèbli̊sh's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used has a sleek, linear appearance with stylized, often geometric ornamentation. The primary facade of its buildings often featured a series of set backs that create a stepped outline. Low-relief decorative panels can be found at entrances, around windows, along roof edges or as string courses. It was best known for its use of smooth finish building materials such as stucco, concrete block, glazed brick or mosaic tile. Decorative details can incorporate various artistic or exotic motifs to suit the building's function or the architect's whim. Chevrons, zigzags, and other geometrical motifs are common forms of ornament.

Due to the actions of local Kami, winter is short in Kèr Yèbli̊sh.

The Bramblelash near Kèr Yèbli̊sh are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Kèr Yèbli̊sh's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves gestures to channel Charm energies of tier 1 via moments of science.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Kèr Yèbli̊sh was attacked by soldiers from another nation, with orders to raid Kèr Yèbli̊sh. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Kèr Yèbli̊sh lost 103 people, 204 livestock, and 81 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 98, when members of Kèr Yèbli̊sh's militia enacted an operation to scout a specific location for information about a particular vault. The operation was complicated by major logistical problems. The conflict ended with the defense of the vault against a siege, which ended in a crushing defeat for Kèr Yèbli̊sh's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Kèr Yèbli̊sh's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
